Springtime Nautical Style

Happy Tuesday loves! I was so excited when Old Navy asked me to collaborate with them. I am loving their “Hi-Fashion” take on clothes. This campaign is an invitation to bend the rules, play with fashion your own way, and try something new! This month, I was challenged to take the neo-nautical trend and make it my own. I started with a day out shopping and stuck to the classical springtime nautical style of reds, whites, and blues and I wore it from head to toe. From the blue stripes in my scarf knotted around my neck, to my red and blue striped top, and the blue stripes in my fun sneakers. I wore some dark skinny jeans and a denim jacket to complete the perfect look to wear out on a shopping trip.

I’ve been shopping at Old Navy for years, I’m talking since high school. I can always count on finding some fun vibrant prints or a go to staple piece to add to my wardrobe and this time proved no different. I ran over to my nearest Old Navy store on my lunch break and before I knew it, I’d grabbed so many items and filled up an entire dressing room and was able to style two nautical looks including the one I’m wearing here. Be sure to check out my Instagram to see the other Springtime nautical look I styled later on this week and #SayHi!

Kohl's Panties

Hi loves! When you’re a career woman and a wife you sometimes find yourself putting things off, like adding to your collection of favorite panties! Spring is the perfect time to purge and organize your closet and that means your panty drawer too ladies! I’ve been searching for some new ones and when my friends from Kohl’s asked me to review a few, I jumped at the chance. I immediate began perusing the site and found so many brands and styles to choose from. I eventually went to my local Kohl’s and found even more that I love and I wanted to share my top three favorites here with you.

Kohl's Panties

Let’s start with this fun and flirty feminine pair of cheeky hipsters (Maidenform Scalloped Lacy Trim Cheeky Hipster), that I found in a cream and grapefruit polka dot print! It features one of my favorite details; scalloped lace trim and it’s also low rise. There are so many color options, you’re bound to find something you love.

The second pair , the (St. Eve Lace Trim Hipster), I found is this v-shaped pair that is cutesy and comfy in a hipster design. The best thing about these? No panty line in your jeans!

Kohl's Panties

My final pair, (Maidenform Microfiber Lace trim Boy-shorts) is boy short cut with navy and pink polka dots. The fabric is microfiber and feels like it’s barely there and it’s low rise full coverage. I’m sure you can see a pattern here, lace trim!

Gold pleated metallic skirt, blush turtleneck

Happy first of March my loves!

I wish I could say I’m currently outside in 60 degree weather frolicking about town with my husband in this beautiful pleated metallic skirt and a tissue thin blush turtleneck but I’m not. Instead, I’m trying to dry off into some respectful semblance of a professional. I got rained on and blown around this morning every which way. Listen, you never know just how fragile you are until an ungodly mixture of rain, hail, and 50 mph winds tosses you around like a rag-doll.

Anyway, let’s get down to this outfit. I’ve been seeing pleated metallic skirts everywhere (on pinterest, fellow bloggers, social media, magazines, you name it) and if my blog is the first place you’re seeing one, that’s totally ok! I hope I’m doing it some justice!! 😉  I came up with countless ways to style this skirt but decided to go with a blush turtleneck, and black ballet lace up flats. My gold metallic pleated skirt is a real eye catcher and focal point of the look so I decided to keep accessories neutral to let my skirt do all the talking.

You know what they say…sometimes less is more.

Camo Pants

Happy Monday loves! I think my “anthem” for this year might just be Big Sean’s song Bounce Back. I haven’t been consistent in my some areas of my life including posting on this blog and I plan to change that. ( I feel like with these camo pants, and my anthem, I can do just about anything.) I won’t beat up on myself but I will challenge myself to be better. Because, “if you’re a real winner, you know how to Bounce Back.”

Now I don’t know about y’all but 2017 has started off doing a little TOO MUCH! So I’m willing to count January and some of February as a “warm up”, if you are. I mean if you won’t tell, I sure won’t! 😉 Here’s the thing, Lexington, KY weather is a bi-polar joke, when it’s not raining, it’s snowing, or we have a wind advisory so this weekend, Hubby and I took full advantage of some beautiful weather and got busy shooting pics.

In today’s look, I’ve styled some fun camo pants with a gray turtleneck with pops of camel to complete the look. A friend at our church complimented me on my look and asked about where I got my pants and as I answered, I realized they were over 4 years old from Gap and I think it’s just so funny how trends come back around full circle. I always advise my girlfriends and readers to buy quality pieces that can be worn for an extended period of time in a variety of ways.

Leather Mini Skirt + A Bow Tie

Happy Tuesday loves! It feels so good to be blogging again consistently and sharing content with you in this creative space of mine. In today’s look, on one of the milder days we’ve had lately in KY, I styled one of my favorite pieces together: my leather mini skirt and bow tie. There’s something beautiful about mixing masculine and feminine pieces. Most of you who have been faithful readers of my blog over the years, know that black isn’t my usual go to color of choice in outfits. But even I can admit how crisp and classic it looks with white and gray. Not one to shy away from my personal style, I decided at the last minute to wear my plum leggings instead of black and I love how it pulled the entire look together.
